The quality of a diamond’s cut is an important and difficult attribute to measure. Before making your decision, you should get objective, empirical evaluations and measurements of a diamond’s cut with reports from the BrillianceScope and the Sarin Proportion Analyzer.
The GemEx Article and BrillianceScope Tutorial detail the legitimacy and uses of GemEx's BrillianceScope. The purpose of the BrillianceScope is to measure the “wow” effect of a diamond, namely its ability to sparkle, which is often difficult to determine under the lighting in a jeweler’s store. It does this by rating a diamond’s light performance by measuring the light refractions from a diamond. It measures three areas: brilliance, fire, and scintillation.
